This Privacy Policy explains how Mark collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information. By checking the consent box and signing in, you agree to the processing described here.
1. Scope
Mark is intended for overseas App Store distribution and is not offered in the mainland China App Store. This policy is written for international users and includes GDPR and CCPA-style disclosures.

3. Permissions
- Network access is used to open web pages, save links, call Mark backend services, invoke AI features, and load legal pages.
- Photo library access is only used through Apple's system photo picker when you choose an avatar.
- The share extension receives links, titles, and available page data when you intentionally share content into Mark.
- Mark does not request contacts, precise location, microphone, camera, or advertising tracking permissions for the current feature set.
4. Storage and Processing
Saved article bodies, image archives, notes, highlights, export records, reading statistics, avatar, and nickname are primarily stored on your device and in the app group container. Account records, backend sessions, preferences, AI usage counters, and service logs are stored on Mark backend infrastructure.
Ordinary link saving, parsing, reading, local search, note taking, and export do not send article text to model providers and do not consume AI tokens. AI processing occurs only after you actively use AI summary, Q&A, or research features.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share limited data only as needed:
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple authentication.
- AI model providers process the content needed for the AI feature you request.
- Hosting and backend infrastructure process account, quota, and service data.
- We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, safety, or security obligations.

7. International Transfers
If you use Mark from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, California, or another region with data transfer rules, your data may be processed on servers outside your region. We use appropriate contractual and technical safeguards where required, including standard contractual clauses when applicable.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, export, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information, withdraw consent, or lodge a complaint with a regulator. California users may request information about data practices and may use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" right. Mark does not sell or share personal information as those terms are commonly used under the CCPA.
You can manage saved articles, notes, exports, profile data, and account deletion in the app. You can also email remarkhelp@outlook.com for privacy requests. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
9. Account Deletion
In the app, open Profile, tap your profile card, choose Delete Account, type DELETE, and confirm. You may also read the deletion instructions at /account-deletion or contact remarkhelp@outlook.com.
10. Children
Mark is not directed to children under 13, or the higher age required by local law. If a parent or guardian believes a child provided personal information, contact us so we can delete it.
11. Security and Retention
We use local storage isolation, minimized logs, hashing, access controls, and backend authentication to protect data. We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, legal obligations, security, or dispute resolution.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as the app, processing, providers, or laws change. Material updates will be shown in the app or on this website.
